Mr. Big

Mr. Big combine deux tendances populaires de la scène rock des années 1980 : un genre particulier de hard rock, basé sur des mélodies et des refrains accrocheurs, une technique impressionnante et omni-présente, qui sera plus tard appelé le shred. Les prémices du groupe naquirent en 1988, quand Billy Sheehan (bassiste de Steve Vai) quitte le groupe de David Lee Roth (également avec Steve Vai). Presque immédiatement après cette séparation, Sheehan commence à réunir des musiciens avec l'aide de Mike Varney de Shrapnel Records, un label spécialisé dans le shred. Ce qui Sheehan ignorait alors, c'est qu'il allait fonder l'un des plus super-groupes les plus reconnus aux États-Unis.
Le groupe est managé par Walter Herbert (ancien manager de Journey et Santana) et composé de Paul Gilbert (ex-Racer X) à la guitare, Pat Torpey à la batterie, et du chanteur Eric Martin. En 1989, un contrat est déjà signé avec Atlantic, qui amène la sortie de l'album éponyme la même année. Malgré un certains effet de buzz parmi le public des musiciens, l'album ne marque pas le grand public ;
toutefois, Mr. Big rencontre un succès immédiat au Japon.
La percée du groupe vient avec leur second album, Lean Into It, en 1991. Il comporte deux ballades qui valent au groupe le succès commercial : "To Be With You"et "Just Take My Heart", tout comme des morceaux plus rock qui reste des classiques du genre comme "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind". D'autres albums suivirent, "Bump Ahead"en 1993 et "Hey Man" en 1996, mais ces albums n'égalèrent jamais le succès du premier sur le marché américain. Paul Gilbert quitta le groupe en 1997 afin de poursuivre sa carrière solo et éventuellement reformer Racer X. Richie Kotzen, autre artiste Shrapnel et ex-guitariste de Poison, fut enrôlé en remplacement. Le groupe se sépara en 2002 ...

Parait qu'un DVD "Budokan - Reunion Tour 2009" va sortir, dans un premier temps au Japon (le 9 septembre) puis en Europe (date pas encore déterminé). Le concert était filmé le 20 juin dernier au Budokan de Tokyo.

Sur Smoke On The Water, Paul Gilbert se retrouve à la Batterie, le chanteur Eric Martin à la guitare, Billy Sheehan au chant et le batteur Pat Torpey à la basse et juste avant le solo, Billy prend la guitare, Pat le micro et Eric la basse ... et Paul Guilbert continue de marteler la batterie comme un malade.

Le groupe a annoncé que Pat Torpey est atteind de la maladie de Parkinson et qu'il ne pourra pas occuper son poste de batteur durant la tournée à venir. Il sera remplacé par Matt Starr (actuellement batteur d'Ace Frehley).

Le label japonais Wowow Entertainment va publier le 18 mars un mega coffret "The Vault" comprenant, 20 CDs, 2DVDs, un livre de 100 pages, un pass laminé et plein d'autres choses.

MR. BIG sortira un nouveau live, "Raw Like Sushi Mega Edition - Revive 2017: Boîte de Bootleg officielle du Japan Tour 2017", le 24 février. Une collection complète des performances du groupe en 2017 au Japon, Elle présente les neuf concerts qui ont eu lieu entre septembre et octobre de cette année.
Bref: 18 CD sous le capot

meme pour DP, suis pas sur de m'écouter 9 fois le meme titre
quoique avec DP, les versions changent
Etonnament, avec le niveau des musicos comme Gilbert et Sheehan, me demande si ils font varier leur version ? et surtout que ces changements se sentent reellement !?  
parce que quand ca fait que shredder, on ne voit plus trop la difference d une note ou deux au milieu de milliers


ps : etonnament bis, j'ai de plsu en plus de mal à supporter la voix d eric Martin tout du long d un disque !!!!?? c est grave docteur ? Aurais je choppé le variant techno ?
